Romans 12:12
12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
My wife and I have struggled… Well, maybe “struggled” is a strong word. We have wrestled with the meaning of this verse. What is confident hope? How can we obtain confident hope? Is it worth having? All these things Tiffany (my wife) and I have been asking each other and the Lord in our mornings as we dive into the bible and worship and prayer. I wish I had some kind of profound or crazy inspiring story to tell you on how God revealed the meaning of this verse to me but, we’ll just have to save that for another time. For now, I want to share with you what God has revealed to me about this verse and the concept of “confident hope” through the simple act of asking.
So here it is! There are two types of faith; There is faith that we know we will get what we ask for and then there is faith in knowing that whether we get what we want or not that God is in control of every situation.
Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
As I was contemplating this concept, that’s when it hit me. Just as there are these two faith’s there are also two hopes. There is hope that we will get the best out of every situation and then there is confident hope that it doesn’t matter what happens because we have a peace that passes all understanding and we have a Father that has our best in mind at all times. So our faith brings hope that gives us peace over every outcome and every situation because we know that God is in control and He has a plan for us and it is good.
So if you are facing something that is stressing you out or if you are worried or concerned about what tomorrow may or may not bring. Keep in mind that God has your back and wants the best for you. It may not be in our time frame but it will definitely be good. Keep worshiping!!!
