Embrace The Wave!

Life isn’t perfect, as we all know. Sometimes we have good days and sometimes we have bad days. One thing that we need to remember is this, we are never alone in these days. No matter what type of day you are having, Christ is having that same day with us. We also need to remember to not fear the bad days or the situations that make said days bad. Christ vividly explained this to me the other days as I found myself in “a bad day”. He brought me to this portion of scripture:

24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. 25 About three o’clock in the morning[a] Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”

27 But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here![b]

28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”

29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said.

So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.30 But when he saw the strong[c] wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.

31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

32 When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.

So, let’s break this down a little bit:

1st – DO NOT SEPARATE YOURSELF FROM GOD!!! It’s that simple. Never go into battle alone. In the military, we have what we call, Battle Buddies. You never, ever go anywhere without your battle buddy. And that is the same in our walk with Christ. Our days are so much better when we have God with us, and He is fighting for us. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) Look it up.

2nd – Know who you serve and know His voice. We need to be like sheep. Meaning, when a wolf comes to eat us (the wind and the waves) and our Shephard comes to save us, we don’t have to question whether it is Christ or not. How do we get to know Christ? Well, don’t separate yourself from Him for one. The other way is simply by spending time with Him. That’s the only way you can ever really know anyone, right?

3rd – Don’t question Christ. It is when we beat against the goads that we find ourselves in fallacious situations. I have fought against Gods will before and trust me, it is not worth it. You will find yourself in a storm. Just ask Paul. (Acts 26:14)

4th – Don’t fear the wind and the waves. When we do find ourselves in erroneous situations or hard times. Do not fear the wind and the waves. Instead, embrace them, as they are a tool to develop your faith and strengthen your spirit and build yourself up, in the Lord. (James 1:2-4)

5th – Realize that it will all be okay. When we walk with Christ, He has our back. He will pull us up out of our situations, bring us into the boat and calm the storm. Because that is His nature. In Jeremiah 29:11, it speaks to this when it says,

“For I know that plans I have for you”, says the Lord, “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.”

When you go through hard times or know someone who is, remember this; God is with you and more importantly, He wants to be with you. Spend time with Him, get to know Him, and life will go so much better for you. Should we let the waves dictate our decisions or trust in the One who calms the waves with just His voice? Embrace the hard time, do not fear the waves and you will grow so much from it. It is not our will but His will that is perfect for us. We don’t have it all figured out and we never will. So, rely on the one who does. And also remember, whether you have a good day or a bad day, keep worshipping, because He is always worthy of all our praise.
