Is It Really That Simple?

Hey worshipers,

I know I’ve been gone for a while and it’s about time I got back. But I’ve been in some crazy transitional stages in my life, from church to school to even my health. Life is finally starting to slow down a little bit, well at least long enough to share a little something that has been on my heart recently. So let’s dive right on in. In Mark 12:30-31 it says,

“The most important command is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. ’There is no commandment greater than these.” NLT.

I have had a few conversations this week with people who put all these regulations and formulas into how and when we can worship God. “The right way and the wrong way”, if you will. But you simply can’t categorize or put stipulations on an authentic heart that wants to love and serve God. God didn’t come to the world to create formulas or put stipulations or to make it more difficult to worship. It was God himself who said,

“For God sent his son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Himself”. He continues, “There is not judgment against anyone who believes in him” John 3: 17-18, NLT.

I recently became a member at my new church plant called The Summit Church and their motto is short, sweet, to the point, and right on target.  It’s simply “Loving God and Loving People” How great is that? That’s it. That is what God has called us to. It’s not up to us to say whether or not someone is worshiping right or is good enough to worship. Worshiping God is not dependent on any quality, ability, life style, trend, behavior or standard. It is simply coming to him with an authentic heart, as you are, and simply wanting to love and focus on Him first and then doing the same towards others.

With all that in mind, keep worshiping.
