When you think of celebrities, I’m sure the last thing that would come to your mind is Christians. Well, it’s time to change the way you think. If you haven’t noticed, (or if you don’t watch the history channel or CNN) you will find that they like to put the Christian faith on the chopping block. Just like the paparazzi to a celebrity. And just like the paparazzi, people like to disprove Christianity or make Christians look bad. But this should come as no surprise because Jesus Himself, years ago, said that this would happen.

Remember that one scene in the movie, “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” when the two main characters and a handful of other people, with an alternate life style, were confronted in the streets by the Christian protesters? The Christians were made to look like a bunch of tightwad, egotistical idiots that hate anything that contradicts the Christian belief (and I am sure most society would agree). Although this depiction of Christians may be over done, sadly it still rings all to true with the attitude of a lot of Christians.

Matthew 22:36-40

³⁶ “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” ³⁷ Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’^[a]38 This is the first and greatest commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Please don’t miss understand me. My point isn’t to bash on Christians, but it is to make us aware that we are being watched. Every time we declare Christ or wear WWJD merchandise or have a Christian bumper sticker, we are being watched. So let’s hold ourselves to a greater standard. And that standard is love. We aren’t called to point out people’s faults. We are called to realize that we all have faults and that Christ is the only way out of those faults. Remember, like celebrities we are being watched and we are role models to everyone around us.
